A Siberian (Amur) Tiger is reflected in a pool in the Leipzig Zoo's Tiger-Taiga area which opened in 2003.
Tiger-Taiga shows the northern part of Asia not the tropical one. The listed building “Großes Hirschhaus” from 1908 which is listed for preservation is now info point for visitors. Here you learn more about the tiger and existing conservation efforts. From the observation point you can watch the big cats in two outdoor enclosures. There is also an adventure climbing tower and a huge window at the bathing pool. There are four more enclosures “behind the scenes” for these solitary animals.
