Watch these crabs jump. Called Sally Lightfoot crabs, they are indigenous to the Galapagos Islands of Ecuador. They are on virtually all shores in the islands. The red crabs have a toxic taste and can live in the open without fear of predators. The immatures are the same color as the lava rocks, while immatures show a transition to red. They walk fast and can jump a foot from rock to rock. These are from Fernandina Island/Punta Espinosa (Isla Fernandina) in the Galapagos Islands.
