Free Commercial Fishing Photos.

Free high quality pictures of commercial fishing, activities, boats, and gear are available for downloading. A section on recommended books about commercial fishing and commercial fishing vessels is in the right column. Fishing as a profession has been around since the first man (or woman) noticed dinner swimming nearby, or being eaten by some other foraging beast. Who invented the first hook or net or fish spear? We will never know, but we do know that it was a long time ago and that it sustained our ancestors for tens of thousands of years. Only in the last moments of our human existence have we been able to have a major effect on the world's fishery resources, on a large scale, driving many to the face of economic extinction. But fishery managers around the world are getting a handle on the problem and many stocks are being rebuilt. Visit the UN Atlas of the Oceans to learn more.
